‘Dexter season 7 finale spoilers: Michael C. Hall puts it all in perspective
With that in mind, we turn to series star Michael C. Hall, who had a very interesting answer to the question as to whether or not we will ever see Dexter get caught in a new interview with Salon. Not only does this response apply to Sunday night’s episode, but it also takes a good percentage of the eighth and final season into consideration:
“… I imagine Dexter is going to get caught one way or the other. And by that I mean, can we really expect him, at this point, to walk into the sunset? Or get off without a blemish on his conscience or character? In a way, he is already caught. Once Rita dies he is caught. Once Deb is in on the secret he is caught. And what he’s caught by is the undeniable fact that how he conducts himself has an effect on more than just him and his victims. As far as whether he goes to jail, or gets put to death, or gets hit by a bus or whatever it might be, I can’t say. But I think, in a way, we are watching someone slowly but surely get caught.”
If Dexter does end up getting arrested, there are a plethora of questions that come along with that. What would his fate be behind bars, and would he try his best to keep Deb’s involvement in everything this season a secret? The one thing we do feel fairly confident about at this point is that the final season will probably not be spent just watching hit rot behind a jail sell for all of the episodes, though his arrest could be a nice way to bring back some people from his past (including Lumen and Ramon Prado) as visitors.
