‘The X Factor’ USA preview: Tate Stevens, CeCe Frey tease performances

If you want to win a singing competition, one of the primary goals is trying to find a way to keep yourself fresh every week. This means avoiding some of the classic pratfalls such as singing the same sort of song every week, not showing off any personality, or doing covers that sound like strictly karaoke.

Luckily, at least some of the contestants on “The X Factor” USA are proving that they are doing what they can in order to avoid some of these traps. The first example of this is CeCe Frey, who has had a bit of a tough time really since the live shows started finding something the captures the magic of some of her earlier performances. Luckily, her latest message on Twitter suggests that some of the recent ballads are soon to be replaced by something that showcases her fun, crazy side a little bit more:

“You guys should be very excited for tomorrow night, a lot of you are getting something you’ve been asking for for awhile :)”

For CeCe, this is especially important given that she was nearly sent home yet again this past week, and probably would have been had Beatrice Miller been able to keep it together a little bit more. On the flip side, we appreciate Tate Stevens saying what he is here given that he wants to improve and continue to be creative, even though he could probably stay near the top of the leaderboard just by singing some straightforward country songs that appeal to his voting block:

“Changing pace this week! It’s gonna be fun!! Hope you like it…”

You need to take risks in order to win a competition like this, so here is to hoping that some of these risks end up paying off.

Who do you think out of all the “X Factor” USA contestants is poised to have a “big moment” this week?
