Is Chicago PD new tonight on NBC? The future of Jay Halstead
Unfortunately, we can’t say that some of the news that we’ve got right now is of the pleasant variety. After all, we’re not going to be seeing Chicago PD grace your television sets in the near future. It’s not on the air tonight — last week was written to be the fall finale for a reason, and that was to deliver you that epic Jay Halstead cliffhanger where it seemed as though his entire world was about to be over. Halstead got too invested in a case because of an error that he made, and ended up falling victim to someone else’s thirst for vengeance. This is why, entering the second part of the season, we don’t know for sure if the character is going to survive.

The wait until the return of Chicago PD is going to be a long one — Wednesday, January 8 isn’t going to be right around the corner! Yet, we know that there’s going to be a lot of interesting stuff coming up. For starters, we’ll have an opportunity to learn the truth about what happened to Jay! After that, the next order of business will be learning a little bit more about what’s happening with the rest of Intelligence after Jay’s actions could end up becoming public knowledge. Is Jay going to have a job to come back to? We know that Voight will fight for him, but he’s put the rest of Intelligence in a messy position.
Also, remember this — there are a lot of other problems still out there on the streets of Chicago. We don’t expect the case-of-the-week stories to slow down at all.
