Brooklyn Nine-Nine renewed early for season 8 by NBC
If you love Brooklyn Nine-Nine over at NBC, we come bearing some great news — there will be a season 8 for the series!
In a new post on Twitter, you can see the show’s cast and crew react to the news. What’s so incredible about this is that the renewal is coming so long before season 7 even premieres, and it shows the amount of faith that the network has in the series. We understand it — even if Brooklyn Nine-Nine isn’t some sort of ratings powerhouse in terms of live viewership, it does continually fare rather well in terms of DVR viewing and streaming.
Of course, we should also note here that we don’t necessarily expect Brooklyn Nine-Nine to be around forever, either. Typically, the majority of hit comedies only last until a season 8 or season 9 before taking off into the sunset. It wouldn’t be a surprise that Brooklyn Nine-Nine season 8 ends up being the last one, but there’s no reason to worry about that for now. We’d be more than happy to see a season 9 or season 10 at some point in the future!
So what makes Brooklyn Nine-Nine such a big success? We think that a lot of its charm of course comes via the comedy, but there is a deeper undercurrent here and a reason for its success. Think in terms of its beating heart and how much some of these characters care for each other. Jake and Amy are one of television’s best couples, and is there a greater TV boss out there than Raymond Holt? If there is, we have a hard time imagining it.
Provided that NBC keeps the schedule for the series the same, we would expect that there will be a Brooklyn Nine-Nine on the air at some point in 2021.
