Sean Spicer ‘relieved in a way’ over Dancing with the Stars elimination
After the fact, though, Sean himself admitted that he was “relieved in a way” to be exiting the show at this point. That’s, at least, what he had to say via People Magazine after Monday night’s big episode. He also went through some of why he was okay with the choice:
“The judges made the right decision on a night where you had two dances … The scores were going to be very difficult to overcome.”

Spicer was worse performance-wise overall this season than Lauren Alaina, who was also in the bottom two with him for the first time this season. Our feeling was that the first time we would see Sean in the bottom would be when he would go. The judges, and Dancing with the Stars as a whole, probably didn’t want some sort of huge controversy in the event he made it to the finale. Spicer also got what he wanted through this experience — a good bit of airtime and he leaves before it gets even more disive.
What is interesting about the final stretch of the season is that while we think there are two clear favorites (think along the lines of Hannah Brown and James Van Der Beek), there is at least a level playing field across the board. Everyone left is a good dancer and there’s a little bit of unpredictability in the air.
