Supernatural season 15 spoilers: Show EP on bringing back familiar faces
Sure, Supernatural will be in the end about celebrating and telling a story in the present, but to some extent, it’s also going to be about embracing the past. There’s a lot of story to tell there, especially with one of the biggest ideas for the new season being Chuck bringing back all of these demons from the past. It doesn’t bring Sam and Dean back to square one per se, as it doesn’t invalidate all of the work that they’ve already done. Yet, it does force them to be confronted with new struggles and frustrations.

In speaking on the idea of familiar faces specifically turning up, here is a little bit of what executive producer Andrew Dabb had to say in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly:
“Because it’s our last season, we are not afraid to bring back people who we love or who the guys have some history with, because even if it’s a character from season 3 or 4 or 7 or 8, the Sam and Dean they knew are not the same Sam and Dean as they’re encountering right now. This Sam and Dean have been through a lot more. And God’s playing with them a little bit, he’s toying with them. He’s pulling these old familiar faces out in some ways to see what they do. And it’s fun for him.”
If there is one thing we’re excited for with this story, it’s how Sam and Dean react to spending time with some of these returnees — and if they can defeat them in a different way. We wonder if the brothers can beat some of these adversaries again, or if they’ll have to get a little bit creative to figure things out.
