9-1-1 season 3 episode 2 preview: The tsunami; is Christopher missing?

Next week, 9-1-1 season 3 episode 2 is going to have a lot to address — just think in terms of the central tsunami event right now! At the end of the premiere, we ended up seeing a giant tsunami strike the Santa Monica Pier. That’s an event that has been teased throughout many different promos so far this season, but we’ve also seen Fox take their time before lifting the veil on it. In their mind, patience is a virtue — plus, they knew that viewers would have a little something to look forward to whenever the catastrophe did happen.

Moving into episode 2, it has — and now, you have to prepare for the chaos and then also the aftermath. This is going to be a shocking episode, one where we know already that two lives are in danger: Buck and Christopher. This incident is coming after Buck was already forced to think a little bit about his future; more than likely, this is only going to accelerate things and push them to new heights.

A massive tsunami hits the Santa Monica Pier, placing Buck and Christopher’s lives in danger in the all-new “Sink Or Swim” episode of 9-1-1 airing Monday, Sept. 30 (8:00-9:01 PM ET/PT) on FOX. (NIN-302) (TV-14 L, V)

Consider this episode to be the middle point of a trilogy. The premiere tonight kicked off the crisis, the second episode shows you the crux of the event, and the third episode will focus more on the aftermath. Because of the way that some of these stories are being structured, let’s go ahead and project now that you’re probably not going to get the answers that you want within next week’s episode; that’s going to be a little bit too early. It may take some time, but eventually, the writers will move past the tsunami and focus on some other things … though there could be a certain degree of emotional aftermath that still remains.
