Power season 6 episode 5 preview: ‘King’s Gambit’; Tariq’s choices

Want to know some of what’s coming on Power season 6 episode 5? Through “King’s Gambit,” we’ll see more big choices by certain characters … and the aftermath of them at the same time.

For Ghost, one of the things that we’ve come to learn about him is that he’s (seemingly) done with killing. He doesn’t want to do it anymore; he’s lost the appetite. Maybe a part of this is him knowing that his past criminal ways have led him to this point where he’s lost everything. All of a sudden, he may be interested in getting redemption … even though we may be past the point of no return with it. Even if he wants to get some redemption, there could be a point where he finds himself back in “that life” all over again.

The part of the story for Ghost that makes things all the more painful is that he is also having to contend with the notion that Tariq, his own son and someone he really cares about, is following his footsteps. He also is not altogether interested in listening to any warnings that Ghost is trying to tell him. The reality here is that Tariq doesn’t need this life — he has a number of different opportunities that a lot of other characters have not had in their childhood.

So while all of this is going on with Ghost and Tariq, Tasha is going to take it upon herself to issue a rather-simple-but-effective warning to LaKeisha — get out while you’ve got an opportunity to do so. The longer that you stay with and around Tommy, the more likely it is that you meet a rather unfortunate end. We’ve already seen now via the story of Holly just how something can transpire within this world, and precisely how ugly it can get by the end of it.
