The Good Doctor season 3 spoilers: How Shaun – Carly date will transpire

When The Good Doctor season 3 premieres in a matter of weeks, romance will be in the air — but as is often the case with matters of the heart, things are not going to go altogether perfectly with Shaun and Carly. Freddie Highmore’s character chose to ask out Carly in the closing minutes of the season finale, and she was quick to accept and go along with it! The two are going to have a first date that will be filled of excitement, but also challenges for someone like Shaun. While he had a whirlwind romance of sorts with Lea earlier on this series, but that has been over for a good while now.

So what can you expect in terms of drama both on this date and after the fact? Speaking within a new interview with TVLine, executive producer David Shore makes it clear that “things don’t go perfectly … How [Shaun] reacts to that, and how he reacts going forward, is going to be an ongoing [storyline].” Therefore, this is not going to be something that is resolved altogether quickly. The fact that Jasika Nicole was promoted to series regular is all the proof that you need when it comes to this very subject.

We absolutely are very excited to see what comes on the other side of a potential Shaun/Carly date. Yet, at the same time, we remain very much eager to learn more about what’s going to be coming down the road when it comes to Shaun and Lea. How is Lea going to react to seeing Shaun with someone else? That’s something that she is going to have to figure out over the next little while and that’s not going to be an easy thing for her to take at first, most likely. She’s not used to being in that environment so with that, there is a paradigm shift that happens here.
