‘Downton Abbey’ season 3 spoilers: Amy Nuttall speaks out!

As we reported over the weekend, fans of “Downton Abbey” had a rather unique opportunity leading into the weekend in order to hear some of what Amy Nuttall had to say about not only this season, but her general thoughts about her character Ethel and the time period in which the show is set.

While there were no major spoilers that were shared during the Twitter interview (otherwise known as a “Twinterview”), we did learn that Nuttall would love to sing in a future episode of the show, even though there are no plans for her to do so as of this writing. Meanwhile, she also referred to the scenes surrounding Ethel giving up her son as “heartbreaking,” and she ironically said that she really enjoys cooking in real life even though her character is not particularly great at it. (Just ask Mrs. Patmore about it.)

Nuttall says that one of the things that she does admire about Ethel the most is her determination, and this is something that we expect to see on full display pretty much for the rest of the season. Although she did win the approval of the ladies of the Abbey while working for Isobel at Crawley House, it is still rather apparent just how both Robert and Mr. Carson feel about her. Will she be able to change their minds? Even if the answer here is “no,” she probably can still take quite a bit of solace in the mere fact that she no longer has to support herself while working as a lady of the night.
