The Walking Dead season 10 poster spotlights Daryl, Carol, Michonne
If you look below, you can see the latest poster for the AMC series, one that features at the center of it Daryl (Norman Reedus) alongside Carol (Melissa McBride) and also Michonne (Danai Gurira). It’s a back-to-basics approach where the show relies on some of its most iconic and longest-tenured characters. It’s an interesting move to make, given that the series is going to be losing Gurira this season and this could’ve been a chance to spotlight further people in the ensemble.
Yet, AMC knows that Michonne sells, just as Daryl and Carol are iconic and the two of them could be used to carry more of the story coming up. October 6 is the premiere date for the new season, and this is one that could create all sorts of interesting creative swings. We’re going to have a chance to see how the writers tackle a full season without Andrew Lincoln while also potentially offering some teases on the Rick Grimes movies (if they choose to do so). There are also still a number of threats out there, including more within the world of the Whisperers. Also, what is the future of Negan going to look like?
One of the cooler things about the poster is that the font on the poster is the same one used for a lot of the Robert Kirkman comics — this may be a further homage to the source material, especially in the wake of the series ending earlier this year in stunning fashion. (Despite the end of the comics, don’t expect The Walking Dead proper to end anytime soon. There are no plans currently for that to happen.)
While this series may not be the ratings destroyer-of-worlds that it once was for AMC, there’s no denying that The Walking Dead still has a lot of fans, and produces ratings that still make it one of the ratings kings on cable.
