Lucifer season 5: Should Inbar Lavi return as Eve?

Lucifer

As we approach Lucifer season 5, there are undoubtedly questions aplenty out there — but this article is, to quote an episode title, all about Eve. Will we see this character again?

We’ll admit that for a good chunk of season 4, it felt like Eve was the Lucifer season 4 version of “that character who shows up for a year and then everyone moves on.” Think Marcus Pierce a.k.a. Cain from season 3 as one great example of that. Inbar Lavi made her presence felt in a short period of time and she brought a lot of drama, comedy, and variety to the show. She brought out a more devilish side to Lucifer Morningstar … before he eventually came to the realization that he isn’t that person anymore. He’s capable of being more of the person Chloe Decker wants him to be, and that is also who he wants to be.

Yet, our sentiment towards Eve as a future character changes via her relationship with Maze. She fell for Eve as the two worked in order to make Lucifer jealous and, by the end of the season, it felt like there could be something there. Yet, Eve left near the end of the season to find herself — that way, she could just be Eve rather than just be someone who was defined solely based on a relationship.

We already made it clear in the video below (subscribe to CarterMatt on YouTube, and check out our Lucifer playlist) that seeing Eve again and continuing the Maze storyline is one of the things on our priority list for the upcoming season. Do the writers feel the same? It seems like an Eve return is at least possible, judging at least from what executive producer Joe Henderson said via TVInsider: “We just have to figure out what story is there and how much we want to explore.”

While we don’t know if we’d be seeing Eve across all of season 5 (there are only sixteen episodes left!), we do think that an arc at some point before the end is merited. We do think that Maze deserves happiness after everything that she’s gone through, and Eve could be the sort of character who wants to give her happiness. In leaving when she did, Eve wanted to make sure that she wasn’t giving Maze an artificial version of herself should they get together. If she does return after the fact, they could be much happier in the long run.
