America’s Got Talent sneak peek: Benicio Bryant’s ‘Here Goes Nothing’
In the video below, you can see Bryant hitting the stage in front of the panel (and guest judge Jay Leno) to perform his original song “Here Goes Nothing.” Unlike his audition, he is accompanying himself on the guitar. This is a song that is personal to him and quite powerful at the same time. It shows off some of his vocal power, but also some of his passion. It’s got that perfect sort of art-meets-life quality to it since we’re talking here about a song revolving mostly around the idea of taking a big chance. That’s what performing an original song is — a big chance. If the judges like it, you move forward to the next round and you’re more of a favorite than ever. Because America isn’t voting, you don’t have to worry at least about whether or not you’ll lose votes doing something that viewers don’t already know on some level.

Will Benicio Bryant make it to the live shows on the strength of this/ We’re pretty confident that he will — plus, most of the acts previewed like this have a good chance of moving forward. AGT wants to give them more of a spotlight for a reason! What we think Benicio brings to the table is individuality, a great voice, and a potentially big audience. He could go very far this season depending on his song choices.
Beyond just this season, we almost wonder if Simon Cowell is thinking about a long-term future for him, as well. Benicio is the sort of performer who fits the mold of what a lot of music managers are looking for — someone who is talented, artistic, and also would sell well to really young people throughout the next several years.
