Shameless season 10 premiere date revealed; how Mickey returns

Shameless season 8

Are you ready for Shameless season 10 to arrive? Well, you’re still gonna have to wait until Sunday, November 3 at 9:00 p.m. Eastern time in order to check that out. Showtime today confirmed not only the premiere date, but also some details all about what’s coming for the Gallagher clan from here.

Before sharing the synopsis, here’s a quick refresher — Fiona Gallagher (Emmy Rossum) is gone, while Frank (William H. Macy) is still nursing his leg injury and being a pain to everyone around him. This season will continue to push these characters forward, both in terms of their career ambitions and also their relationships. Some characters are also going to find themselves with a slightly different status.

Now, let’s share some of those details, including the big return of Noel Fisher’s Mickey as an important part of the story:

The tenth season picks up six months after last season’s finale: Frank (Macy) uses his leg injury to collect as many prescription drugs as possible and his exploits lead him to an old friend.

Debbie (Emma Kenney), emboldened by the $50,000 left to her by Fiona, has stepped in as the new matriarch, ruling over the Gallagher household with an iron fist.

Lip (Jeremy Allen White) navigates his relationship with a newly affectionate Tami (Kate Miner).

Carl (Ethan Cutkosky) has to decide what to do with his life as he finishes military school and heads back to the South side.

Liam (Christian Isaiah) is committed to learning more about black history and culture under the tutelage of V (Shanola Hampton) as Kev (Steve Howey) faces an identity crisis.

Gallavich returns this season as Ian (Cameron Monaghan) and Mickey (Noel Fisher) rekindle their romance in prison as both cellmates and lovers.

It’s clear after reading this that the show’s going to keep rolling along, even without Fiona around. Who steps up as the new co-lead alongside Macy? There may not need to be one. Instead, we could see some of the love spread around to a lot of different people in the story. Debbie’s going to have a more important position in the family than before, and we are kind of curious to see where her life goes beyond just looking over the home.

As for Ian and Mickey, they have to get out of prison eventually … right? It feels like there is only so much story that can be told for the two of them there. (We’ve at least seen a tease or two of them back at work.)

Bonus Kidding news!

The Jim Carrey comedy will return on the same day (November 3), following Shameless at 10:00. The plan is to air two episodes a week, one right after the next. Visit our Premiere Guide for more news on start dates!
