Are You the One? season 8 episode 7 preview: Beyond the blackout

For most of the season so far, what we’ve had a chance to see is a topsy-turvy journey of people who are doing what they can in order to figure things out for themselves … and it hasn’t always been easy. They’ve dealt with issues from their past, judgments, and surprise bumps in the road that they did not anticipate in advance.

So where do things go from here moving into next week? Well, the problem is this: There was a blackout tonight. It actually happened, and what makes that so shocking is that it indicates to ALL of these people that they are not with their perfect match. It’s the chance for them to regroup and try to figure things out. They may have been trying to make some of the right choices for themselves but they aren’t at the place of doing that just yet. Through this upcoming episode, you have to hope for a better outcome.

Of course, we have a hard time thinking that everyone’s going to be able to focus in that easily on what lies in front of them — it’s not exactly like we’ve seen a lot of blackouts in the history of this show! It’s a rare occasion and, beyond that, the financial ramifications of it are severe. Blame whoever you want for it, but it happened. Now, you gotta pick up the pieces and see where things can go from here.

In a weird way, maybe removing some of the financial pressure could cause things to be focused a little more on love and on finding the right person. You never know how random circumstances can shake things up. (It’s just weird to think that Amber and Nour, one of the more stable pairs in there, aren’t 100% right for each other — at least per this show.)

There’s still a lot of time left for the show this season and, with that in mind, there is a lot of time still for other stuff to happen.
