Who is the best Arrowverse hero? Kara Danvers, Laurel Lance, Iris West, Ray Palmer (round 1)
Let’s start by noting this — there are many different definitions of a hero within the Arrowverse. They don’t always need an alter ego or a comic-book costume in order to make their presence felt. What matters most is what they do for their world around them — we like to think that they’re out to make everyone feel a little bit healthier and safer!
We’re going to be focusing on sixteen different characters throughout this series (four from Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, and Legends of Tomorrow) and today, this piece is all about Kara Danvers, Lauren Lance, Iris West, and Ray Palmer. At the bottom of this article is a poll for you to vote for your favorite! Two will be moving on to the next round.
Voting Rules – Voting will remain open until Tuesday, July 16 at 3:00 p.m. Pacific time; the advancing heroes will take part in round 2, which will begin on Wednesday, July 17. Kara Danvers, Supergirl – With Kara, you’ve got a character who is one of the most obvious and well-known within the entire Arrowverse. Being Supergirl is a task that comes with a good deal of responsibility, but it’s not something that she’s ever shied away from. She’s showed bravery time and time again, plus a courageousness to also try and make the world a little bit safer as a reporter. She’s not just settling for any one thing!
Laurel Lance, Arrow – Who do you vote for here, the original version of Black Canary or the Black Siren who’s gone on the complicated redemption tour? A lot of that is really up to your own interpretation of the characters and their story. For us, we’re always going to wish that the original Laurel lived but there is still no doubt that Katie Cassidy’s gotten to do some wonderful things these past few years as one of the Arrowverse’s most complicated characters.
Iris West, The Flash – Iris really has done it all through the first five seasons of The Flash. She’s been a reporter for truth, been the team leader at STAR Labs, had a superhero costume and powers for an episode, and also taken on many physical threats without any powers. Iris is one of those people who never stops fighting for the truth in every form. She’s one of the strongest characters in the Arrowverse due to her adaptability.
Ray Palmer, Legends of Tomorrow – Ray’s probably somewhere trying to recover from what he went through at the end of season 4 with the whole Neron transformation. We don’t blame Ray for anything that he did, though, given that he sacrificed his soul for the sake of someone he cared about — what’s a more heroic move than that! Whether it be as The Atom or in his normal life, what we’ve seen from Ray is an optimistic genius with a heart of gold.
