Big Little Lies season 2: Meryl Streep on the infamous ice-cream scene
What was in that scene? Think about Reese Witherspoon’s character of Madeline tossing an ice-cream cone directly at the head of Meryl Streep’s Mary Louise. Just from the images that are out there alone, this seemed like it’d be wonderful entertainment … and it still somehow didn’t make the final cut. This could have been one of the greatest GIFs of all time and now, there are questions as to whether or not we’re going to see it … or will we still?
Well, it seems like there is still a chance for this scene to have a second life. Speaking via ET Online, Meryl Streep noted that there is going to be a life still for this scene, and it could be in the DVD release coming up a little bit down the road:
“[Reese] just told me it’s not in the show! It’s [going to be] in the DVD extras.”
So there you have it — maybe this will be the gift that keeps on giving when we get around to the holiday season/whenever the DVD is released.
The relationship between Big Little Lies the show and its viewers is interesting no matter how you look at it. On one level, we’re talking about a show that is incredibly dramatic and able to bring you tears. Yet, there is this other angle of it where it’s one of the most meme-able shows on television and you’re able to extract so many little moments of humor from it to celebrate online. It’s a reminder that a show, even one that is as devastating as this one, can still be about the little things, as well.
Eventually, let’s hope that we get a chance to see some ice cream … we just may have to wait a little while first.
