Big Little Lies season 2 episode 2 preview: Bonnie’s mom, ‘Tell Tale Hearts’

Want to know what’s next on Big Little Lies season 2? We’re going to see in episode 2 a search for answers and, more than that, plenty of further questions. Take, for example, what’s going to happen to Renata when some of her world starts to crumble. Or, what is going to transpire with Ed and Madeline now. (It almost feels like Adam Scott is more Ben Wyatt now that he doesn’t have that beard anymore.)

Big Little Lies season 2 isn’t bursting at the seams with episodes. Because of that, you’re going to see one big burst of events after the next. You’ll see in episode 2 (“Tell Tale Hearts”) next week a further exploration of the Celeste – Mary Louise relationship. This is a tough one for Celeste to keep up given the Perry of it all. We don’t exactly know a LOT about Mary Louise right now, but we can see that she’s prying. She’s a woman intent on getting answers and she’s not going to slow down in her pursuit of them.

Renata (Laura Dern) faces an uncertain future when Gordon (Jeffrey Nordling) lands in legal trouble. Corey (Douglas Smith) asks Jane (Shailene Woodley) out on a “practice” date. After a challenging therapy session with Dr. Reisman (Robin Weigert), Celeste (Nicole Kidman) opens up to Mary Louise (Meryl Streep) about her relationship with Perry. Bonnie’s (Zoë Kravitz) mom, Elizabeth (Crystal Fox), arrives. Ed (Adam Scott) confronts Madeline (Reese Witherspoon) about her secrets.

What story are we the most excited to see?

As of right now, we’re leaning towards Celeste and Mary Louise — and yes, it’s all because of the idea of seeing Kidman and Streep in the same scene together. This is the gift that keeps on giving for this show and it’s only going to get crazier. That’s probably even more so stemming from tonight’s premiere revelation, where clearly Mary Louise heard Celeste’s screams within her nightmares.

Yet, we don’t want to shy away from what’s going on with Bonnie. Early indications for season 2 are that we’re going to learn SO much more about her than we have; the arrival of her mother is proof of that. The larger question to wonder is if seeing Bonnie’s mom is going to cause her to revert back to what happened. Bonnie’s got the secret that could completely eat her alive … though it’s still to be seen whether or not it actually will.
