Britain’s Got Talent 2019 final: Who won, X, Colin Thackery, Ben Hart?

BGT

Who won Britain’s Got Talent 2019? The results at the end of tonight’s episode finally lifted the veil on that, and we knew before they were announced that they were going to be controversial.

After watching the majority of the episode, it really felt like there were only four major contenders for the title — X, Colin Thackery, Ben Hart, and Dave & Finn. Really, we think that the big X reveal stole the thunder a little bit from Dave & Finn and also Ben Hart, which meant that we could’ve had a situation where Colin was able to take the win. He did perform last, and that means that he could get a bump from that. Also, some of the magic acts could end canceling each other out to a certain extent.

We’ll admit that we had a hard time deciding who we wanted to see win, mostly because there were a lot of solid acts throughout the final — the X reveal was obviously the biggest moment of the entire episode, but we wouldn’t blame you if you were questioning whether or not it was fair for him to be after making the live shows last year. Maybe there’s no hard and fast rule against it; we still love the act, but the question still has to be asked.

Now, let’s get to the results

Who did the British public put in the top three? The first person was Colin, who the people in attendance at the audience seemed to absolutely adore. We do think he’s got a lovely story, but speaking for us personally, we do think that there are some stronger overall acts who have a little bit of a larger future.

The second act put through to the top three was X, and the third person was … Ben Hart! The final two, therefore, were X and Colin, which was basically what you could have said the moment that the show proper ended.

The winner is…

Colin Thackery! As a person, we couldn’t be thrilled for him. He’s the sort of person everyone can get behind, and he was someone the country clearly loved.

Personally, we probably would’ve voted for Ben Hart as a fresh talent from this year, but we do think that focusing just on the performances tonight, X was the best by a mile. Consider this yet another reminder that not everything happens on this show in the way that every viewer wants.
