The Big Bang Theory season 12 episodes 23, 24 preview: The series finale
Next week on The Big Bang Theory season 12, it all ends. We’re getting episode 23 and 24 over the course of a single night, and these are going to be a television event like no other. This is the series finale, and through this hour, we’re going to see closure, happiness, sadness, and then hopefully a dropping of the final curtain that feels appropriate both to these people and also the journey that we’ve been on.
At the moment, CBS is being reasonably secretive about the series finale — they haven’t released much in the way of a synopsis for either episode, and while we know that the finale recently filmed, there weren’t too many obvious spoilers that came out about it. We know that the final scene is one that was shot without an audience present, so there is something out there that virtually no one knows about other than the cast and crew. There will, more than likely, be opportunities for some cameos, and a chance to learn more about the endgame for several of these characters.
Really, at this point the only hope that we have is that The Big Bang Theory ends better than another Chuck Lorre show in Two and a Half Men, which was an unmitigated disaster. We’re not personally expecting the end to be happy all of the time, mostly because Lorre’s shows are not afraid of going into some dark places here and there. The Big Bang Theory most recently did so with the death of Howard’s mother, but it has tackled some other trials and tribulations throughout. This could be a testament to the difficult nature of life, but also the sense of fun and family that these characters have developed with one another.
Rest assured, we’ll be around to very much cover the dropping of the final curtain here.
If you missed it…
Following the series finale, you’re going to have a chance to see the Young Sheldon season finale, one that is going to be seeing younger versions of several The Big Bang Theory characters. you can head over here to get some more news all about that. Meanwhile, at 8:30 p.m. Eastern on the finale day, you’re going to get a chance to see a retrospective special that helps in order to showcase what this show and the experience meant to all of the cast. It has changed their whole lives, and we certainly hope that there are a number of other great opportunities for everyone moving forward.
