The Voice results: Did #VoiceSave help Mari, LB Crew, Kim Cherry?

The Voice

The latest The Voice results are coming on NBC tonight, and given that we are SO early in the live shows, there’s still an air of unpredictability with it.

Yet, there is one thing that we’ve come to count on time and time again with this show, and that is the Team Blake country artists having a HUGE edge over everyone else — and there were a ton of them tonight. Gyth Rigdon, Andrew Sevener, Carter Lloyd Horne, and Dexter Roberts all moved forward without a problem, and they were joined by Rod Stokes, Maelyn Jarmon, and Shawn Sounds.

Then, there were some contestants who didn’t even get a chance to perform for the Save as the field went down from 13 to 8 contestants tonight. Celia Babini, Jej Vinson, and Oliv Blu were all eliminated … and that meant that Mari, LB Crew, and Kim Cherry were up for the Save. For those wondering, if Kim won out, it’d mean that Adam would be completely out of team members.

We do want to spend a quick minute though discussing the eliminated artists. For Jej, this was probably one of the few ways he could go home given that with his international following, he could’ve managed to get through with a lot of #VoiceSave hashtags if given that chance. Celia at times had favorite status written all over her in the early going, but her more recent performances were a little bit more of a mixed bag. her take on “Shallow” last night just didn’t have enough oomph. Unfortunately, it never felt like Oliv had much of a chance.

Of the three people in need of the Save, to us Mari is the one who has the strongest overall talent and stage presence — she is the most consummate performer, the person who can go up on stage and deliver something great no matter what the circumstances or the song. Yet, we still had a feeling that it would be Kim just because Kim’s on Team Blake, and she’s also the most immediately recognizable of the three performers with a unique spirit and attitude. The Voice is about sometimes more than just the voice; it’s about the coach, the style, and the attitude. Kim has a lot going for her, especially with the lack of any rapping on this show.

The final result

Like we imagined, Kim is moving on, Adam doesn’t have a team anymore, and Blake’s got the majority of everyone left. (Just picture Blake cackling in your head now.)
