Arrow season 7 finale spoilers: Emily Bett Rickards’ final episode

Emily Bett Rickards

Next week on the Arrow season 7 finale, get set for what’s going to be a jam-packed hour of emotion. After all, we’re gearing up for the final episode featuring Emily Bett Rickards as a series regular. Is it possible that we’ll get a chance to see Felicity Smoak again down the road? Sure, but the last thing that we want to do at the moment is to bank on some sort of return appearance that may not happen.

Seven years. That’s a long time to have a role on any one show, and it’s a long time to be doing a single thing when it comes to your career. Because of Arrow, Emily has an opportunity now to move forward and do other things with a firmly established platform. She’s got this iconic role on her resume and we understand the desire now to also mix things up. She can explore other venues of acting or even come back and do another show at some point down the line.

Even though we’ve had a considerable amount of time to prepare for this final episode to be here, there is a part of us that is still somehow trying to wrap our head around the possibility that this is it — we’re officially nearing the end of this particular chapter of Arrow, and it’s a major chapter of it. No matter how the finale wraps up, the final season (presumably airing this fall) won’t quite be the same. We know that for this finale, family is going to be key as Oliver and Emiko are at the very center of everything. Expect something that is action-packed and a proper tribute to this run. It has to find a way to both tell this current story and then also say goodbye to Emily, and both of them have to be meaningful and pack a significant punch.

Below, CarterMatt has the official Arrow season 7 finale synopsis with some other news as to what’s coming up:

FAMILY TIES – The battle between Oliver (Stephen Amell) and Emiko (Sea Shimooka) comes to a boiling point which brings back some familiar faces and leaves others in dire jeopardy. James Bamford directed the episode written by Beth Schwartz & Rebecca Bellotto (#722). Original airdate 5/13/2019.

Beyond everything that we’ve spelled out here, it would benefit Arrow greatly if they do also spend a little bit of time during the season 7 finale trying to establish what season 8 will look like — whether it be the pain over Felicity’s absence or also what the new threats will be. We’d love for it to almost be a series of constant reminders of what Arrow has been, with nostalgic cameos aplenty, while setting up for one more huge showdown in Crisis on Infinite Earths. If we had to guess, that is where the entire story of Oliver Queen will come to a head. It started with a guy in a hood, and it’s grown to become something so much more.
