Is Station 19 new tonight? How to prepare for the crossover
Let’s go ahead and get the bad news out of the way, and tackle the first question before we do anything else: There’s not going to be a new episode tonight, and the same thing goes for Grey’s Anatomy. For the first time since the firefighter drama came back on the air, we’re going to be dealing with a bit of a hiatus. Basically, we’ve gotta sit around and wait for what’s coming next week … which will probably be worthwhile given that what we’ve got coming up next is one of the biggest installments we’ve had in a while. Think in terms of the Grey’s Anatomy crossover!
Sure, we did have a crossover between these two shows earlier this season, but that one seemed to be mostly a crossover in the sense that we had some patient/victim of the week characters who drifted from one story to the next. This one could be a little more expansive and significant — though not so expansive that all of the Grey Sloan staff will be turning up in the second, Station 19 centric hour.
The story for both episodes will revolve in part around the status of Lucas, whose life is on the line and it’ll be up to the Grey Sloan staff to see if they can get him out of there in one piece. Maggie seems to be the doctor tasked with this more than anyone, as we know that Kelly McCreary will be appearing in both episodes. While Lucas may not be thought of as an A-tier Station 19 character, he’s obviously important. Think about his status as a fire chief and beyond that, the relationship that he’s got with Vic … who may be MIA for at least a part of this story. That’s going to lead to a panic, and perhaps leading to Lucas doing some things that are perhaps not altogether productive for the sake of his health. We understand that when you’re in the sort of position that the guy is in, you’re going to be desperate to want to help … even if it’s not in your best interest.
On the other side of this episode, we know that there are at least a couple more episodes within this world. Expect in those a lot of danger and some fantastic character moments, and then also a fantastic cliffhanger that sets the stage for whatever could be coming up next.
