The Resident season 2 finale spoilers: Could Dr. Bell sell the hospital?

The Resident

Are you ready for The Resident season 2 finale to arrive on Fox? There is still a little more story before we get there, but the May 6 episode “The Unbefriended” looks to be a story all about key choices, saving lives, and also the return of guest star Corbin Bernsen as Nic and Jessie’s father Kyle.

Why is he coming back now? Well, let’s just say that it’s tied somewhat to Jessie’s current medical state. On this past episode, it was determined that her kidneys are no longer of use to her and because she’s a recovering addict, she could have a longer wait time to get on the transplant list … and then even longer before said transplant can actually happen unless a donor is found. As it turns out, though, Kyle could be that donor … but getting him on board to do it, given how greedy this guy is, could prove to be the challenge of Nic’s life.

The Nic storyline to us is the one that is the most emotionally compelling, but there’s also one that could alter the entire state of the hospital as we know it — Dr. Bell potentially selling the hospital. It’s something that is at least under a certain degree of consideration, but thanks to someone else at Chastain, it may not ultimately happen.

If you do want to get some more information all about what’s coming up next, we suggest that you check out the official The Resident season 2 finale synopsis below:

In an effort to save Chastain, Bell considers selling the hospital to a conglomerate, but Kit tries to make him see that the negatives will outweigh the positives. With Conrad’s help, Nic tracks down Kyle (guest star Corbin Bernsen) and pleads for him to reconsider donating a kidney to Jessie. Meanwhile, Mina voices her concern to Austin when Shira is assigned to Micah’s surgery and Devon fights for the care of a patient whom the doctors suspect is uninsured in the all-new “The Unbefriended” season finale episode of THE RESIDENT airing Monday, May 6 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. (RES-223) (TV-14 D, L, V)

Do we think that The Resident is a show set in a realistic world where terrible things can happen? Absolutely, and we did see a certain degree of that in this past episode with all of the horrible stuff that transpired with Lea. However, at the same time, we do like to think that this is a show about some good people trying to change the culture at hospitals. Devon, for example, tried to do what he could for Lea even though others did not. Meanwhile, we’ve seen Conrad buck the system at just about every chance that he can. Even of Nic’s unsuccessful in her quest to help her sister, we do hope that there is an opportunity for Kit to get through to Dr. Bell and keep this hospital from being a corporate machine moving into season 3.
