Hawaii Five-0 season 9: Michelle Borth on Catherine’s possible return

Is there a chance for more Catherine Rollins on Hawaii Five-0 season 9 — or at some other point down the road? Based on what Michelle Borth is saying on the subject, she is certainly open to it! We last saw Catherine a little bit earlier this season, and it does feel like the current M.O. for the show is bringing her back on at least an annual basis. Maybe this is the trend going forward, though we know that there’s a dedicated contingent of folks out there who (understandably) want to see this character a little bit more often.

Speaking in a new interview with Parade, Borth confirmed that she does have an interest still in coming back, and she still believes it’s possible that Catherine and Steve McGarrett have a future together:

…I’ll say this much, the show will go on as long as Alex wants to do it, and Alex wants to do it. The truth of the matter is that I don’t have so much say. People think that it’s me. It’s really that Peter has the grand scheme in his head, and he’s had it in his head since season one, to be honest. This is a really important relationship to the show. The fans love them.

It’s like Romancing the Stone or Indiana Jones, like the relationship between Indie and Marion, they have one of those relationships that never ends. They’re just madly in love. Even in the last Indiana Jones, they bring Marion back, and that’s like 15 years later. So, that’s what I’m hoping for, and in my opinion, that’s what Peter wants.

We’ll see what ultimately becomes of these two characters down the road, but it’s something to certainly keep in the back of your mind. We’re certainly aware of the contingent of fans out there for this relationship … though at the moment, the biggest mystery in our head is what’s going to be happening in the season 9 finale in general. While we’ve learned already about MacGyver bringing on board Peter Weller for the final episode of its season, its Friday-night companion is still keeping things quiet … at least for now. What’s also quiet is the status of season 10 of the show, but we firmly believe that renewal news is going to be coming up at some point soon. There’s no real reason for CBS to cancel it, so it’s really all about just having patience and seeing when the good news is officially handed down.
