The Code episode 2 ratings slip; The Fix, The Enemy Within steady
Let’s start here with The Code episode 2, which had the challenge last night of airing without the big lead-in that it had for its premiere. It didn’t go great. The show dropped down to a 0.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic and, beyond that, just over 4.4 million viewers. It’s the drop in the latter figure that’s the most striking, as it lost more than 40% of its premiere audience. This is a further indicator of the value that comes from airing after NCIS to airing somewhere else on the schedule, and it doesn’t make up altogether hopeful that The Code is going to have more time to breathe on the network’s schedule in the weeks to come.
Meanwhile, what’s going on with the 10:00 p.m. timeslot? At the moment, this is a mess and it doesn’t really matter where you’re looking. With a 0.6, Bull remains firmly on the bubble, a shell of what it was doing when it was airing after NCIS. (It’s fared perhaps better than The Code, but we remain lukewarm on its future at the moment.) Meanwhile, The Enemy Within stuck to its series-low rating of 0.6 from last week, while The Fix continues to struggle to fix itself. With a 0.5 rating, it seems destined to go the way of the dodo by the time we get to the end of May. (Of these three shows, we’re probably the most confident about The Enemy Within since it feels like it’s developed a reasonably-loyal following … but we’re not all that confident in it, either.)
As for what we saw elsewhere last night, The Voice (1.3) ended up narrowly defeating American Idol (1.2) for #1 on the night — does anyone else think that the talent on the latter show is significantly stronger this season? We do still continue to think that these shows continuing to go head-to-head on Mondays isn’t good for either one of them, but with limited time on the schedule, we also don’t really see that changing at any point in the future.

Over on Fox, 911 did manage to pull in a solid 1.1 rating, but since it’s already been renewed for more episodes, there’s nothing really worth being concerned about there. Just sit back, relax, and enjoy the rest of the season. The same goes for The Resident.
