The Enemy Within episode 6 preview: One mission after the next

The Enemy Within

The Enemy Within episode 6 carries with it the title of “Eye of Horus” — which, for those curious, is an ancient Egyptian symbol. Want to know the meaning? Think in terms of protection, good health, or power from royalty. This symbol is actually going to be tied to the case at the heart of this upcoming episode, one that starts with a bomb and ends, potentially, with another bomb. This is that kind of show that is always going to find a way to make things more intense with each passing episode.

Also, there’s this added component of the show needing to find a way in order to make use of Shepherd as a key part in the story. It’s that sort of awkward trade-off where in order for her to be useful to Keaton and the rest of the team, there have to be substantial crises. In this episode, it just so happens that there are one after another thanks in part to a key asset who’s not interested in handing down information … and then also a new threat that surfaces over time.

Below, CarterMatt has the official The Enemy Within episode 6 synopsis with more news as to what’s coming:

04/01/2019 (10:00PM – 11:00PM) (Monday) : After a bomb explodes in Jersey City, the Cointel team captures a key planner, Sam Fathi (guest star Rudy Roushdi), who can lead them to Tal, the mastermind behind the bombing. When Sam proves difficult to break, Shepherd convinces Keaton to detain a former Egyptian intelligence officer to help, leading to an urgent mission to stop another bomb from going off. TV-14 L, V

So where is this story going to go by the end of it? Potentially, this is going to be one of Shepherd’s best chances to prove that she can work on the fly with a number of different problems … basically allowing her to build that much more trust. We do think that the team’s starting to realize that she is worth the trouble, but there’s also not that much in the way of a real bond just yet. If you want to craft this show somewhat in the vein of The Blacklist, the best thing that you can do make that happen is slowly make it so that she actually feels like part of the team — that’s not going to be the sort of thing that happens overnight.

We also think that we’re at that key part in the season for The Enemy Within where the show does need to keep its momentum for the sake of getting a season 2. It’s maintained a lot of its audience, but we’re not at that point just yet where anyone should kick back in a metaphorical lounge chair and be confident over the future. There are still SO many different ways in which this story could ebb and flow.
