Baptiste episode 5 preview: The search the missing cash

Baptiste

Next week, Baptiste episode 5 will arrive on BBC One and with that comes almost immediately a question — can you believe that we are so close already to the end of this season? The spin-off series for The Missing only just began weeks ago and now, we are inching ever closer to a time in which we wave goodbye.

Before we do make it to this point, however, let us do our part to extrapolate some of what is coming. Within the final two episodes of this season, there are some mysteries that must be resolved, starting with finding the money and leading into some big reveals when it comes to Constantin. Is there a way in which to deliver the hammer and the surprise that Julien so wants? This is a show building mostly to a potential, singular event … at least if all goes according to plan. There is just no guarantee of that very thing; as a matter of fact, throughout episode 5 there are ways in which the plan could careen off of the side of a cliff. This is a time where everything could and more than likely, will go wrong. It fees foolish to assume anything otherwise.

The power of Baptiste is the same as the power of The Missing — you can look at the story from an operational standpoint if you choose, but we’ve come to know at this point that it is really about so much more than that. This is mostly a story about the people underneath the investigations and the toll that it has on those around then. Look at where Julien is! Just see the impact of his actions upon his family! This is an instance where you really do not need to dig into the depths of despair to understand where anyone is. For Julien, it’s right in front of you, staring you smack in the face.

Below, CarterMatt dose have the official Baptiste episode 5 synopsis with some additional news on what’s coming:

The hunt is on for the missing cash, and Julien Baptiste (Tchéky Karyo) has to break the news to his family that they must remain in hiding.

Meanwhile Edward takes drastic measures to keep his ex wife Clare (Clare Calbraith) and her partner safe. Whilst in hiding they reopen some old wounds and Clare makes Edward face some difficult truths about a past tragedy.

Back in Amsterdam, Genevieve gets a shocking visit from Constantin (Alec Secareanu) and we discover the true nature of her relationship with Lucas (Marc De Hond).

More determined than ever to nail Constantin, she and Julien plot an audacious move to turn him and take down the Brigada Serbilu.

Will this story carry over to the finale?

You better believe it. As a matter of fact, it is so much more a cause for concern if it doesn’t carry over to the finale. That would mean that the final episode just exists off on an island somewhere, drifting to a destination unknown without any real purpose or tangible connection to anything else.
