One of the key components to Chicago PD this season has been the intersection of police and politics, and just how much Hank Voight really doesn’t want to be in this particular place. Our thought is simply this: He doesn’t want to be here and if he had his say on it, he wouldn’t be there. Instead, he’d be moving away from it for as long as humanly possible. He’s already tried to defy Kelton and Prize both when they have wanted to twist a certain story to meet their desired endgame.
So, what happens if it turns out that Voight needs to get political? That’s going to be seemingly one of the focuses for this upcoming episode. Check out the full Chicago PD season 6 episode 16 synopsis that CarterMatt has for you below with some more information as to what’s coming:
02/27/2019 (10:00 PM – 11:00 PM) (Wednesday): Voight’s (Jason Beghe) “stay out of politics” stance is challenged as Intelligence uncovers the details surrounding a prolific serial killer. TV-14 DLV
No matter the cost, it’s obvious that Hank is going to jump at the chance to take down a serial killer. Why in the world wouldn’t he? It’s for the safety of Chicago, and we certainly also think it will come across well for the unit. We don’t think that Voight cares all that much about personal fame, but he wants to make sure those who are working under him are safe and don’t have to deal with any issues from other parts of the Chicago Police Department. That’s long been an issue on this show, mostly because Voight’s methods are a little unorthodox (to say the least) and that often leads to there being a lot of speculation and eyes peering right into Intelligence.
If this serial killer is apprehended, this could give Intelligence more breathing room to do what they do best … but we do think they’re going to continue to have to deal with Kelton and Price. There’s really no sign that those two are going to go away at any point in the near future, at least until we’re on the other side of an election.
