Outlander notes: Season 5 BTS work; A Sam Heughan reminder!

Outlander season 4

We’re back with another edition of our CarterMatt Outlander notes, and also a reminder that the start of season 5 filming isn’t too far down the road. We’re going to see the cast and crew together before you know it, but remember that there is already work being done to ensure that the latest batch of episodes coming on Starz is perfect with the set crew and in the writer’s room (Side note: if you didn’t know CarterMatt co-owner Jessica’s cousin is on the Outlander writing staff for season 5!)

In a new post on Instagram, production designer and all-around set guru Jon Gary Steele made it clear that something is being built in preparation for production. What is it? Speculate away in the comments below! If you recall, earlier this year we told you that Steele and his team were already working on the Big House, which is a location that means a lot to a number of book fans out there. (We don’t want to say too much more in fear of spoiling something.)

This image is in some ways a reminder that work on Outlander is basically a year-round job. Even if a certain part of the production team has a break, there is another core group of people out there working in order to ensure that a task is done. If the show is not filming, then there’s a pretty good chance that either episodes are being written or that the show is in the process of airing. Something is almost always going on, which is what makes working on this particular show such a thrill.

A Sam Heughan reminder

If you did not know about Heughan’s Omaze campaign raising money for My Peak Challenge, it is still going to be running until Thursday! It’s a chance to be his date for the upcoming My Peak Challenge gala and to take part in a number of other fun things; you can find out more information about it over at the link here.

For Sam himself, we know that the past couple of weeks have been a good opportunity for him to recharge the batteries and prepare himself for another exciting season of work on the Starz series.
