Last Man Standing season 7 episode 17 spoilers: Ryan joins the poker game

Last Man Standing season 7 episode 17 isn’t going to air until March 8, but there’s a lot to anticipate with it. After all, this episode is going to serve up a great opportunity to explore a theme that has long been present with this series: Being an outsider. What exactly does this mean, and how does someone really tackle it? These two things could end up being a pretty important part of this installment overall.

Mike begrudgingly invites Ryan to his weekly poker game, but immediately regrets it when Ryan gets the guys to open up about their feelings in the all-new “Cards on the Table” episode of LAST MAN STANDING airing Friday, March 8 (8:00-8:30 PM ET/PT) on FOX. (LMS-717) (TV-PG D, L)

Ultimately, should Mike do more to make Ryan feel at home in the poker game? Maybe, but it’s hard to know what makes Ryan suddenly think that an emotional conversation is the right direction to take this game overall. Mike just knows what it’s like to be different from everyone else. It’s something that in his own way, he has felt in his home life surrounded by women.

Ultimately, it doesn’t feel like this is the most-complicated episode in the entire world and that’s okay. We’re more than fine just having an installment about sheer discomfort and a character trying to find a way to fit in. There is an inherent relatability that goes along with that, given that there are plenty of people out there who have probably been in a similar position to what Ryan is feeling over the course of this episode.

(Plot twist — wouldn’t it be funny if this was all some sort of shockingly incredible gambit by Ryan to get all of the guys’ defenses down, and then end up claiming victory at cards? It’d certainly at least be something a little bit different from anything that we’ve had a chance to see on TV in the past.
