Agents of SHIELD season 6 spoilers: The state of Daisy Johnson

Finding consistent information regarding Agents of SHIELD season 6 has been no easy task, and there is a pretty good reason for that. After all, the writers are doing whatever they can in order to ensure that the finer details of the up coming story remain under wraps. There’s been a concentrated effort to keep things like a possible Big Bad quiet and, of course, there’s then also the question of what’s happening with Phil Coulson. The end of season 5 suggested that the character was dying, and through what little promotion there is for season 6, nobody is deviating from the thought that the man is gone.

Yet, at the same time there’s so much secrecy around the project that we’re not willing to give up hope just yet. We do have this image in our head of Clark Gregg going to work on set in some giant costume a la The Masked Singer to try to keep the secret safe that he’s somehow still involved.

Rather than just focus on an impossible mystery here though, let’s shift the focus instead on where some other characters are going to be. We know that Mack will be responsible for leading SHIELD without Coulson around, and some characters are clearly going to be finding their way and better understanding of who they are. This includes Daisy Johnson, who may be finding something closer to real stability for the first time in her life.

In speaking on this subject a little bit more to TVLine in a new piece, here is what Chloe Bennet had to say on the subject:

“In my mind, she has a bit more of a peace to her … There is obviously the mourning of Coulson, but she’s also been through it all and she is genuinely stronger from it. She is not dealing with things as she has in the past. She has fully accepted her trauma and is moving forward in the most healthy way, for the first time.”

We do think that the timing is perfect for Daisy to step into her own a little bit — after all, we’re talking here about someone who deserves this moment. There needs to be a chance for her to be happy and to use her powers in whatever way she sees fit. Of course, we don’t think that her life is suddenly going to be peaceful — there are always going to be threats that SHIELD needs to take on — but she at least should be able to find some comfort away from the chaos.
