True Detective season 3 episode 4 preview: ‘The Hour and the Day’
Through the first three episodes of the HBO series, we’ve gotten another reminder of what this show is really all about: Watching the toll that a case has on a man. While we do understand the whodunnit component of a show like this, True Detective is a little bit more psychological than that. This is a case that shaped Wayne Hays for decades and it’s something that will likely continue to hold real-estate in his mind for the better part of this season. We don’t think that there will be much of a hurry to hand out answers.
Below, CarterMatt has the official True Detective season 3 episode 4 with some more news as to what’s coming up:
Hays and West see a possible connection between the local church and the Purcell crimes. As the detectives search for one suspect and round up another for interrogation, Woodard is targeted by a vigilante group.
What we like about what True Detective is doing this season is anchoring almost everything around Hays and then letting everything else build around him. It gives the show a little bit more of a focus and also allows us an opportunity to get to know him better.
In investigating the church, we could be setting the stage for an extremely perilous situation. Let’s just put things this way — these crimes are the sort that could divide the town and create enormous distrust, especially if they are linked to a house of faith. This is one of the few places where trust is held and people feel safe, so to completely upset the apple cart here could prove to be all sorts of devastating. We’ll have to wait and see how the rest of the season plays out, but for now it feels like this particular part of the story could be a turning point.
