Grey’s Anatomy season 15 finale is still in planning stages

There’s a reason to be worried about the finale for a show like this, mostly because the precedent is there. We’ve seen shootings, plane crashes, electrocutions, and many other near-death experiences. Of course, we’ve also had the occasional wedding and reason for characters to be happy, as well.
Sometimes, at this point in the season, the writers have a good sense as to how they want to end things. Yet, that may not be the case 100% this time around. Speaking via TVLine, executive producer Krista Vernoff confirms that she does not have all of the stories firmly planned out for the end of the season just yet, and makes it clear instead that there are “certain stories that I know need to culminate in the finale, but in terms of what the event is, I don’t know yet.”
What does that mean? That things may need to evolve a little bit still and there needs to be some sort of proper framing device for a lot of what we could see at the end of the season. Based on where things are right now, there are four key stories that we are watching rather intently.
Meredith’s relationship status – Is she going to figure out by the end of the season whether she wants to be with either DeLuca or Link?
Owen’s decision – Meanwhile, he does have a lot to ponder over with Teddy expecting his baby and then also his history with Amelia. We’d like to see this resolved long before the finale, but we do still recognize the possibility of exploring this a little bit further.
What’s happening with Ben and Bailey – We know she’s going through a lot right now when it comes to the stress of her job and her fears that something will happen to him.
Catherine Avery’s health – At this point, everyone is really just STARTING to get a good sense of what’s happening behind the scenes for the character. There’s still so much more that needs to be explored here, with of course whether or not she will be okay high up on the priority list.
