Celebrity Big Brother 2 spotlight: Does Tom Green have a chance?

The entire Celebrity Big Brother 2 cast is now official, and with that we’re spending this week previewing what to expect from many of them! Consider this article series your guide to understanding what each person brings to the table and also whether or not they have a legitimate chance of winning. Today, the focus is on Tom Green, who is certainly one of the more colorful characters appearing on this season. Unfortunately, he’s also a hard person to gauge in terms of his actual chances of winning the entire season.

Claim to Fame – Tom is a sketch performer, actor, rapper, and comedian whose peak was in the late nineties / early 2000’s in a number of different films and TV shows. His most famous work, though, came via The Tom Green Show, which started on Canadian television before eventually moving to MTV in America. He’s been more under the radar the past several years, though he did participate in one season of The Celebrity Apprentice, where he did not perform particularly well.

Strengths – Tom is a very creative guy known for being able to take on a number of difficult wacky characters and personalities. He does possess a natural ability to make people laugh, and he could be a good source of energy and comedic relief in the house. We don’t think that he is going to be there to cause drama since he has somewhat stepped away from that over the years, so maybe he can be a good cog in a solid alliance or someone who at least won’t be taken seriously as a threat.

Weaknesses – The problem with Tom is that it’s hard to really imagine him as someone who can win this season. He doesn’t strike us as some strategic mastermind or someone who is going to enter the house and take the bull by the horns. He came across as somewhat chaotic and aloof on The Celebrity Apprentice, and that makes us wonder if he will really be able to pin down specific allies in the game. He’s also unlikely to be all that much of a competition threat.

Outlook This Season – The casting of Tom Green on paper is outstanding, as you’re bringing in someone into the show who has a fantastic personality and is going to stir up a little bit of chaos — something that we do always welcome. Yet, at the same time our principal concern here is that he’s not going to know what he’s doing and will get in over his head. He could make it at least reasonably far, just because nobody is worried about him winning. It’s hard to imagine him emerging as the winner.
