SWAT season 2 episode 12 preview: Debbie Allen returns; Mexico mission

SWAT season 2 episode 12

There are a couple of things to be excited about when it comes to SWAT season 2 episode 12, with the return of Debbie Allen being one. Hondo’s mother is back! It’s great that we are getting multiple opportunities to see the actress on board here, given that she is certainly busy these days being an executive producer / occasional director on Grey’s Anatomy.

As for what else is coming in this episode, there is also a chance to see a different setting — portions of this episode are set in Mexico, and were actually filmed in Mexico City to go along with this. That’s a rarity with most network television shows. We often see shows set stories in various parts of the world, but very rarely do casts and crews actually go out on location in order to make it happen. (Two other examples of shows that have done this over the course of the past year include Blindspot (which has put some scenes in Tokyo) and then also This Is Us (which filmed some scenes in Vietnam for its second season).l

Below, CarterMatt has the official SWAT season 2 episode 12 synopsis with some more information as to what’s coming up next:

“Los Huesos” – Jessica and Chris go undercover in Mexico, alone and without back-up, to save a Mexican federal agent kidnapped by a drug-dealing gang that Jessica helped bring to justice years before. Also, Hondo’s mother, Charice (Debbie Allen), worries he’s under emotional strain when he engages in a series of small home renovation projects in her home, on S.W.A.T., Thursday, Jan. 10 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Portions of the episode filmed on location in Mexico City.

This episode is going to serve as an opportunity to actually see just how Jessica and Chris handle being in a situation separate from the remainder of the team. That’s not going to be an altogether easy thing for them to handle, especially since one wrong move could easily lead to their death. Meanwhile, this is a chance to see Hondo a little bit vulnerable and struggle in some ways. He’s dealt with a lot personally while, at the same time, having to deal with the strains of the job. This is something that we’d like to see SWAT address a little bit more than they do given that we’re talking about such a deeply-difficult job.
