Shadowhunters season 3 teaser: Jace struggles, lashes out

We had hoped that Freeform would release some sort of Shadowhunters season 3 trailer at the end of their “25 days” social-media promotion; while we didn’t quite get that on this fine Christmas Day, we are at least happy to have some new footage.

At the bottom of this article, you can see a small teaser for the upcoming batch of episodes that focuses on Clary — even if she is not actually in it. At the beginning of season 3B, the presumption among many is going to be that she’s gone, and many of your favorite characters are not going to be handling it altogether well. There will be a lot of pain and, at least for Jace, a tremendous amount of guilt. He feels responsible over what happened and because of that, he’s not going to have an easy time letting some of the pain go. It’s going to live within him and simmer while he figures out how to move forward.

Jace at present is certainly in the midst of a super-difficult stretch of time. Right when he and Clary start to actually be together, all of this stuff happens with the Owl and with Lilith; then, Clary is taken from him altogether.

Is there good news?

Well, eventually Clary will come back — we know that she’s not gone forever, but the problem that Jace and others will run into even with this is that she is not going to return the same exact Clary that so many of them remember. There will be some changes, and how some of those changes manifest themselves will be one part of what makes this upcoming batch of episodes all the more interesting.

At present, there are at least 12 more episodes of the show to enjoy — it’s hard to know what the future will hold for sure beyond those, but even if it turns out to be the end, we get the feeling that the producers are going to play some of their biggest cards and deliver a story that is rather epic and then some. We know that there will be a fantastic conclusion to the two-hour finale, while there will also be an ending that is open enough that the series could theoretically could back down the road.
