In a new post on Instagram (see below), series star Neil Jackson officially confirmed that he has wrapped up production for his role as Jack Byrne on the Sony series, and we certainly wouldn’t be surprised if some more cast members follow him soon. Given that the holidays are right around the corner, we have to imagine that filming was structured in a way that it could end right around now.
So once the cast is actually done with production, where do things go from there? That’s rather simple — it will head over to post-production, where everything can be properly edited and put together so that we can get set for whatever lies ahead in the new year. No network has officially announced a season 2 premiere date as of yet but if we were to guess, our hope is that it could start to materialize in late spring / summer in a few different places. As long as just about every territory gets a chance to see the show back next year, we’ll be certainly very pleased.
One other thing worth noting via Jackson’s tweet is that he is hopeful in regards to a season 3 of Absentia in the future. While we don’t think that there’s going to be anything announced in the near future (don’t people need to see the performance of season 2 first?), it is still something to hope for on the other side.
