NCIS season 16 episode 10 review: Torres, Bishop and a baby

NCIS Bishop Torres baby

Are you ready to say goodbye to NCIS for the year? We hope so since this is the last episode before the holidays kick off and with that we are expecting an episode that will of course bring us a great case of the week, but will also inject some holiday cheer and maybe a few emotional moments.

New NCIS video: Our most recent video is all about the rumors surrounding Mark Harmon possibly leaving NCIS and why it just isn’t true. Subscribe for more and take a look at our NCIS playlist for more!

Everyone is hoping to get an early start on their holiday travels, but when a case comes up at a local shelter after a man named Jerome is stabbed to death the eggnog drinking is put on hold. They are hoping that the case will be open and shut, but of course it’s a lot more complicated then an angry drug dealer getting revenge. After a shoot out with a drug dealer ending in his death (and almost ending Bishop’s life!), they discover that he has a baby… and the baby isn’t his. In fact this baby was sold to him by a young woman after she was offered 10 grand for the child and was in a desperate situation.

Bishop and Torres are sent to take the baby to child services, but end up having to take the baby back to the office when they can’t get a hold of anyone. Gibbs is not thrilled to have the baby in the office and put Bishop and Torres in charge of the baby and finding the mother and as much as Torres stood on his soap box earlier in the episode about not wanting kids, he’s quite good at caring for the baby.

If you are a fan of the Bishop and Torres pairing and are firmly sailing on that ship then there were some really nice moments in tonight’s episode for you! While they are taking care of the baby we had some  cute moments where we saw them picking out a name for him (Nick of course wanting to name him after himself). When they end up having to take care of the baby over night they go to Gibbs’ house since they really don’t have much of a clue as to what they are doing and while Gibbs goes to sleep Torres and Bishop spend the evening by the glowing lights of the Christmas tree and the roaring fire talking about Bishop’s desire to have kids. It was definitely a moment where something could have happened between them, but instead they fell asleep on the couch together.

CarterMatt Verdict

It was so nice to see the whole team to come together for this baby (babies can really bring people together like that!). We loved seeing Jimmy changing the baby’s diapers and Sloane postponing her ski trip to come to Gibbs’ house and help out. Seeing the baby go to a loving couple who were excited to adopt him was wonderful way to tie up this story.

Also for all of you Gibbs and Sloane shippers out there, you were not left without this holiday episode! In the closing moments Sloane told Gibbs that she was not going to make her ski trip and he invited her over for a few drinks, to which she said yes and he wrapped her in his arms and kissed her on the forehead! It may not be “the kiss” many of us are waiting for, but it’s progress.

We love holiday episodes like this of NCIS that bring everyone on the team together and with a baby in the mix it certainly left us with a wonderfully warm feeling to get us through the long hiatus until the next new episode next year.
