Supernatural season 14 episode 8 preview: Prepare for ‘Byzantium’

Supernatural season 13 poster

Want to know some of what’s next on Supernatural season 14 episode 8? Well, “Byzantium” is going to be an important episode, mostly because it could be one of the biggest stories for Castiel all season long. Beyond that, it’s going to segue, one way or another, including the installment that follows this one. That could end up being the final episode of the season.

Before we get too much further into discussing this episode, why not spend a moment or two on the title itself? Byzantium is a name that has association within the world of Ancient Greece, but later on ends up adopting the name Constantinople, or after that Instanbul. As for how any of this ties into the world of the show … maybe this does involve Castiel on some level? For the time being, that does seem to be the thing that makes the most sense. (It is also a title of a vampire film from a few years ago, and you could argue that this is a sign that these blood-sucking beings are important — after all, we have certainly seen many a vampire make an impact on this show in the past.)

Below, CarterMatt does offer up the official Supernatural season 14 episode 8 synopsis with some other information all about what’s coming up next:

OUT OF THE DARKNESS – When Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) join forces with an unexpected ally, the outcome will alter the course of two lives. Meanwhile, Heaven faces an attack from a dark force, driving Castiel to make an enormous sacrifice to make things right. The episode was directed by Eduardo Sanchez and written by Meredith Glynn (#1408). Original Airdate 12/6/2018.

The further that we get into this episode, the more that we are hoping that there will be some rather-epic reveals whether it be for Sam and Dean or for Castiel. This is a series that often does kick the tires on its larger storylines until we get closer to the fall or season finales and, beyond just that, it is a show that needs to create these sort of big moments to get people talking. Overall, season 14 has been a solid one insofar as entertainment goes, with our #1 prevailing criticism being that there has not been anywhere near as much focus on the brothers together as there has been in the past. We’re really crossing our fingers that this is the thing that is going to change.
