Empire season 5 episode 9 (fall finale) preview: The Lyons on the line

What’s coming up on Empire season 5 episode 9? Let’s just say that the future for several characters is on the line. Maybe we are speaking about the financial future for some members of the Lyon family, or may be we are also speaking about lives on the line. This was a story about danger, about relationships, and also about chaos. We figure that, as a whole, this is going to be an epic episode of the series — but did you really expect anything less? This is what this show does, especially when we get around to episodes of this particular nature and magnitude.

Now, let’s get to actually sharing some of what will be coming down the line here. Below, CarterMatt offers up the official Empire season 5 episode 9 synopsis with some more information as to what’s coming up next:

The financial security of the Lyon family is on the line as their LFM showcase quickly approaches. Kai’s (guest star Toby Onwumere) research for an expose on Empire uncovers some dirty activity within the company and causes conflict with Jamal. Meanwhile, Hakeem and Tiana finally reach an agreement on how best to move forward with their relationship, Andre struggles with his decision to let a new love interest in and Kingsley strikes a deal with Giselle in the all-new “Had It From My Father” fall finale episode of EMPIRE airing Wednesday, Dec. 5 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. Is it fair to say that there is probably some sort of big midseason cliffhanger coming on the other side of this? Probably so, given that this is the very thing that Empire relies on. It’s a delicate juggle that the writers for this show have to do where almost constantly, they need to make sure that there are a few balls that are in the air. This is a way for them to effectively figure out their future and try to press forward in a way that perhaps they would not do otherwise. If all of the balls suddenly fall to the floor, then Empire as a show doesn’t quite exist anymore. There is no more questioning as to what’s coming up next and this story has to find a way to keep the questions and the intrigue going.

In the end, we’re fine with whatever the writers bring us … provided that it is juicy and at least it makes some modicum of sense. We do think that this is important on some level, even with a show that exists in this particular crazy world.
