Take Two season 2: Five suitable homes for canceled series
If you missed it, earlier this week ABC handed down some really sad news: They have canceled Take Two after just one season on the air. We still think that the Rachel Bilson – Eddie Cibrian series has the potential to be a staple for years to come, but what it needs more than anything else is a network that believes in it.
What we want to do today following the show’s cancellation is do our part to try and look towards some possible suitors elsewhere. Are there some great ideal homes for the series out there? We like to think so, and the simple objective of this article is trying to identify some of the places for it to land across the board. Take a look at some possible contenders below, at least when it comes to places that could be a good fit. (There is no word on who specifically is interested in the show, but reports from yesterday indicate that there could be some suitors out there.)
CBS – This one just makes sense because of what it could do alongside Elementary. Why not replace Salvation with this show? (By the way, we’re also bummed out over the end of Salvation.) It would create a two-hour programming block all about great mystery!
NBC – There may be a small hole in their lineup now given the fact that Reverie was recently canceled. Could Take Two fill a gap in the market there? It’s certainly worth considering. With the right lead-in this show could be a hit, and there are some great possibilities mixed in here to the summer schedule.
USA – They’ve long had a history of having mystery shows fronted by quirky, fun characters, even if they’ve gone away from that in the past. Why not reintroduce Characters Welcome to the USA brand with a show like this?
TNT – The network has syndicated before repeats of executive producer Andrew W. Marlowe and Terri Edda Miller’s Castle. They know the ceiling of this sort of show perhaps more than anyone. That could, in theory, make them a contender.
Hulu – We know that it’s easy to say that Netflix is the perfect suitor for a show like Take Two, but in reality we’re not sure that it is a perfect fit — Take Two benefits more from someone who will air a new episode a week. That’s what makes Hulu more of an interesting streaming contender — but still, we do think that this show benefits more from traditional TV than the internet.
