Unfortunately, Bull is not on the air tonight, and beyond that it does not appear as though the Michael Weatherly series will be returning to CBS in one week’s time, either. It seems as though the show will not be coming back on the air until December 3, which is when some of the final episodes of the year will come on the air. The first episode is entitled “Separation,” meanwhile the episode on the other side of that is “A Higher Law.” At present, CBS has yet to announce if “A Higher Law” is the final episode of the year. If so, at least we can rejoice in the fact that there are two episodes of the series on next month, and that is so much more than what some other networks are putting on the air for their shows. For whatever reason, some networks like to the end the fall portion of their seasons really early.
Beyond these two episodes, there is at least one more thing that we can hype up here: The return of Diana Lindsay. Jill Flint seems to be coming back at some point as Bull’s legal rival-turned love interest. There are always some interesting sparks when she is around, but hopefully the writers do consider this somewhat of an opportunity to really expand out the character and give us something a little bit different than anything that we’ve had a chance to behold with the two of them to date.
So how is Bull performing in the ratings?
At the moment, there’s a lot to be thankful about — which is perfectly-stated, given this time of the year. While the ratings are, to the surprise of no one, down versus previous seasons, they are certainly still holding their own (especially in total viewers) versus how CBS was performing last year at this time. Add to this the fact that shows right before their fourth season almost always get renewed (think for syndication reasons), there is little reason to think that something different is going to end up happening here. As a matter of fact, we’d say that a renewal should be confirmed here by April.
