Last Man Standing season 7 episode 7 preview: ‘Dreams vs. Reality’

While Last Man Standing does take on its fair share of comedic situations, there is a personal element often buried at the core. This is a story of family finding ways to come together — often through laughter — even when times get tough. Mike Baxter at times can be the reason for the initial conflict, but moving into season 7 episode 7 next week he could end up being a catalyst for people actually coming together.

This upcoming episode is entitled “Dreams vs. Reality,” and it is actually going to feature some characters at the start of it down in the dumps. Vanessa and Mandy have each worked hard to be where they are and try to make some dreams come true, but they’ve realized in the process that not all dreams do come true. This is a human reaction and a realistic one — if you drop a million different seeds in the ground, not all of them are going to blossom into what you want. You can turn some dreams into something greater, but others end up drying up and producing nothing. Mike, however, basically is ready to turn into a master gardener here as he tries to sprout some of the seeds in this episode for his wife and daughter, respectively. Mandy nearly gives up on her dream of becoming a fashion designer when she is faced with rejection, sending her into a spiral. Vanessa is then forced to look back at her own career path, which stirs up regrets. Mike then steps in to help the women in his family realize their dreams in the all-new “Dreams Vs. This should be an episode that allows many of us a chance to smile and don’t we all need a little bit more of that in our lives? Comedy can be a cure for the soul, but we also don’t want to envision that everything at the end of this episode will be super-inspirational, either. Mike will probably do a few nice things and make Vanessa and Mandy feel better, but he’s also still Mike. There’s probably going to be plenty of snark mixed in throughout the loving moments of this episode and viewers would likely not have it any other way.
