Supernatural season 14 episode 4: Can we have more monster-of-the-week episodes?

For starters, a creepy monster — think in terms of a horror movie coming to life. There was a ton of gore, a ton of comedy, references to video games past and present, and a reminder of Sam’s feelings towards Halloween. This felt very much like an old-school Supernatural episode and we loved some of the references that we got to that along the way.
Beyond all of that, we just like the fact that Supernatural can still a do an episode like this, one where the story is almost all about Sam and Dean working alongside an eclectic group of guest stars. You had undercover aliases, chase scenes, and of course road trips in “Baby.”
Don’t get us wrong: We do love having Castiel, Jack, and some others around, and it’s important that this show builds towards something. Yet, it does still feel like it’s been a good while since Supernatural delivered something that was this nostalgic and this much of a reminder of what this show once was. We appreciate that they can still find a way to revert back to this for some episodes here and there. “Mint Condition’ was fun, and overall, we do hope that we get some more episodes like this.
For those wondering, though, Sam and Dean did still talk about some of their larger issues in this episode — the entire case was really based on trying to get Dean out in the open again and doing some of what he loves. Sam tried to console Dean, as well, for the decision that he made when it comes to becoming Michael at the end of last season. It’s going to take some time in order to feel a little bit better.
Also, Sam hates Halloween because he barfed while playing bobbing for apples when he was so much younger and had a crush on a girl.
