Grey’s Anatomy season 15 episode 5 review: Will Bailey, Ben break up?

Grey's Anatomy season 14

After a week off the air, Grey’s Anatomy season 15 episode 5 returned with some answers for many key storylines.

Take, for example, the return of Jackson Avery to the series after a brief hiatus. He’s spent a lot of time away from the job but he came back, at least briefly, in order to help a young boy he met in Oregon. As it turned out, the boy had cancer and Jackson helped to save his life. Yet, we don’t think the kid will see Jackson’s work as a gift; after all, he ended up being the one who took some of his physical gifts away.

Jackson still has to patch things up with Maggie, though, given that he skipped town for a while and didn’t really clue her about it in advance. He apologized to her at the end of it, and it does seem like he’s going to be sticking around for a good while. Also, he and Maggie are now doing better!

Meanwhile, for Jo and Alex, there was a small sense of tension when it comes to the amount of time he was spending on the job. Also, he didn’t seem to be altogether keen about Link, given that he knew Jo back when she was married to Paul and didn’t do anything to help her. He did his best to explain that he didn’t actually know what he was like and because of that, he just drifted apart from her because he thought that would help their relationship.

Perhaps the part of the episode that was the most entertaining was seeing Amelia and Owen’s adventures in making sure their new family (and Betty) was on the right track — including a stakeout mission at one point to make sure she didn’t do anything bad. As for who we’re the most worried about, meanwhile, that has to be Bailey since she’s now identifying her husband and his job as the biggest source of her stress. That could be a major problem for the two of them, given that this is something that could greatly impact their future together if this stress sticks around.

CarterMatt Verdict

Overall, we would consider Grey’s Anatomy tonight to be one of the more entertaining ones we’ve seen, even if there weren’t any earth-shattering revelations and Teddy still hasn’t told Owen the truth — though we do seem like we’re on the road to it. We’re a little bit disappointed we didn’t actually get an episode about Jackson and what he was doing when he was away from the hospital, but other than that, most of this episode delivered.
