Designated Survivor season 3 spoilers: Anthony Edwards new Chief of Staff
According to a new report via Deadline, the former ER actor is going to playing the role of Mars Harper. He’s not your typical Chief in that he uses most of his likability and grassroots charm in order to get people on his side: He doesn’t try to intimidate right out of the gate, but he does still work hard in order to ensure that he gets what he wants. This character has a lengthy amount of experience in politics, and is really one of those few people in Washington who is respected by people from every single walk of life.
The idea in Kirkman bringing Harper on board right now is to create a more organized West Wing in one that has been marred in the past by chaos. He knows how to focus in and ensure that the job gets done … but that doesn’t mean that he will get along with everyone. Take, for example, campaign manager Lorraine Zimmer, who played by recurring player Julie White.
Season 3 of Designated Survivor was certainly not a sure thing for a rather-long time, but now that it is, we do get the sentiment that every single cast member is doing their best to work to ensure that it is the biggest hit possible. We think that one of the best things going for this new season is the fact that there are only ten episodes, given that this offers up the writers a real opportunity to dive in and sink their teeth into great individuals stories — they don’t have to worry about necessarily taking on way too much information all at once.
