Elseworlds poster: Stephen Amell is playing … The Flash?
Today, The CW announced (see the poster below) that in this crossover, you’re going to see Stephen Amell playing The Flash and Grant Gustin playing the Green Arrow. With that said, there are still some other questions worth wondering here. For example, is Amell playing Barry Allen, or just a different version of Oliver Queen? (There are many different readings for the tweet below.)
It’s almost impossible to keep track of everything with this particular crossover just because the sheer amount of different surprises that we’ve seen — whether it be the black Superman suit that was unearthed yesterday or seeing Lois Lane or Batwoman. There’s also the Legends of Tomorrow’s omission, but we think that there’s going to be a lot of really fun stuff that they get to do separate from this. (They don’t need a crossover in order to feel important.)
The reason why you are getting so much about Elseworlds at the moment is just because these shows are all filming these episodes as of right now. The one big remaining mystery here is what’s going on with Supergirl, given that Melissa Benoist is not featured in this at all and by and large, her story for the crossover hasn’t been teased — even though we know we’re getting a chance to see Superman. This is clearly the writers just throwing a ton of fun stuff at the wall and hoping that there’s some cool things that stick on the other side of it.
Here’s the way we approach the crossover event at the moment — even if it turns out to be some sort of gigantic bomb, at least it’ll be over and done with in a week’s time. At that point, everyone can just return to business as usual. (Just so we’re clear here, though, we don’t think that it’s going to bomb.)
