Riverdale season 3 episode 2 preview: A Bughead team-up mission and more

Riverdale kicks off a new season for our crew with some new stories … but where do things go from there? That’s what we want to figure out in this season 3 episode 2 preview! There’s a lot of moving parts in the story at the moment — that is what happens when you’ve got a major character like Archie headed to a juvenile detention center after taking a plea deal and you have Betty suffering from a seizure after seeing her mother and sister levitating the twins over a fire. Did Betty really see this or is something else going on? We wonder if this is the story bridge that’s building between Riverdale and the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina over on Netflix since we saw a commercial for that tonight during the episode, but it could also be Betty going through drug withdrawals from going off her medication.

There is a sense of fluidity to the story right now in that we don’t think many of these stories are going to last forever; this season’s story will probably morph a lot from start to finish! Yet, we do still think that there are a lot of interesting twists to navigate, and also some great relationship stuff to take on.

Just from the Riverdale season 3 episode 2 synopsis that CarterMatt has for you below, it’s fairly clear that both Bughead and Varchie will have some important storylines, and there could be some sort of update when it comes to Moose and Kevin:

FIRST DAY JITTERS – After a gruesome discovery is made in the forest, Jughead (Cole Sprouse) and Betty (Lili Reinhart) team up to investigate Riverdale’s latest mystery. As Archie (KJ Apa) navigates his new surroundings, Veronica (Camila Mendes) devises a plan to bring a bit of home to him. Elsewhere, when Moose (guest star Cody Kearsley) decides to join the RROTC, Kevin (Casey Cott) worries he may be pulling away from him. Madelaine Petsch, Marisol Nichols, Madchen Amick, Luke Perry, Ashleigh Murray, Mark Consuelos, Skeet Ulrich and Charles Melton also star. Jeff Woolnough directed the episode written by Michael Grassi (#302.) Original airdate 10/17/2018.

This is always going to be the eternal struggle for a show like Riverdale — trying to find a way to balance out some of the mysteries with the more intimate, personal stuff. Despite everything that they’ve been through, these people are still teenagers. It can be hard to remember that at times.
