Psych: The Sequel still in the works … but also in waiting
Speaking via TVLine, series stars James Roday and Dule Hill each confirmed that there do still remain plans to follow up on the recent (and seemingly quite successful) Psych: The Movie with another project at some point in the future. To go along with that, the story seems to be put together. Most of the early suggestions that we’ve heard seem to suggest that it will offer up a rather big role to Lassiter, who was not able to be in the first movie all that much due to Timothy Omundson’s recovery.

Really, though, how much about the story for a second movie do you really need? Just know that it’s Shawn and Gus and many of your other favorites, and there will probably be a lot of comedy and some great storytelling thrown in there. Also, a lot of callbacks and Gus eating a number of different things along the way.
The real problem, as Roday and Hill mention here or at some other points in the past, scheduling is tough. James is doing A Million Little Things over at ABC, while Dule has Suits at USA. They have to figure out a way to plan and schedule things out so that the two are available at the right time, alongside the rest of the cast, in order to make it happen. Our hope is that with Suits being another USA show, they can schedule it out so that Dule can stay on that show while also being able to do Psych: The Sequel in the new year. If the movie films in the spring, maybe it would be ready for the holiday season next year.
Of course, all of this is wishful thinking, but what can we saw: We remain wishful over the chance to be able to do more of the show.
